Happy (as a clam)

Do you ever catch moments? Last night Bob and I went pants shopping for him and stumbled across a great sale. So we splurged a little and got us a couple of winter items. I got this cute scarf for half off..

and Robert got this warm (and super soft) hoodie..

Anyway, back to the moment. We had worked up an appetite with all that shopping, and even though it was almost nine, we decided to grab some take out and drive back to our apartment. There was an old Postal Service song playing and we drove back to our apartment laughing.

As we walked into our little South Temple apartment, punching our door code, holding our purchases, and greasy take out with a perfect cool (but not too cold) night. I glanced over at Bob and we laughed about something silly and I caught a moment. I was utterly happy. I knew that one day when we had kids and grand kids, I would look back and think of the fun times we had when we were newly married and living downtown with affection.

Then we went up and sat on our bed (since we now don't have any tables to eat on!) and ate our takeout, watched t.v and laughed. I realized last night that I have been doing too much worrying about the move, about responsibilities, and thinking too much about the future instead of enjoying the moment I'm in. These moments are going to disappear and I want to enjoy every single one of them before they do.

So that is my new goal, to enjoy the moments I'm in.

Awesome! Write it down (somewhere besides the blog).

Sometimes when (let's say) you have 4 kids, you forget those moments and it's like reading a good romance novel when you find the random samplings of special recorded moments with your sweetheart.

And, most importantly, make time for more special moments even in the midst of diapers, preschool, and tantrums!

Loved this post - thanks, Caity! (Oh and way cute scarf. Take me shopping sometime.. I'm hopeless!)
