Do you ever hear a song that makes you stop and it seems like the gate in your head comes down and the memories come pouring in? Like whenever I hear "I Only Have Eyes For You" I think of Bob. That's our song, it's the song we danced to at our wedding. Or when I hear "Hands Down" by Dashboard, I instantly think about how that was the first song Bob ever sang for me. Or with "Waiting on an Angel" by Ben Harper, I always think of my first boyfriend.

It's weird, I will be sitting in the car and a song will come on, and I will suddenly be thinking of an ex-boyfriend, and be totally confused as to why, until I realize what I am humming along to on the radio.

My friend Holli and I used to sing a song from Moulin Rouge whenever we would get in the car together. Or when I hear the sweater song, my mind jolts me into remembering when I was sixteen years old sitting in my cousin's room hearing it for the first time, and then after, being in love with Rivers Cuomo, and The Weeze.

Or when I would deliver batteries with my dad we would sing at the top of our lungs "Sixteen Tons". Or going camping with my brother and wearing out the Beastie Boys CD.

Songs are a powerful thing. I still can't listen to Sarah Mclachlan's song "Stupid". It brings back bad memories.

This got me thinking if I could have one song that when people heard it, they thought of me. What would it be? I decided my criteria would be that I would want it to be fun, a classic, and it would make people happy. So I decided on "My Girl" by The Temptations. It was the song my dad and I danced to at my wedding, and I cannot hear it without being filled with glee. It's also my go to song on the jukebox.

So what would your song be?

First of all let me just say thanks to Bonnie for coming with me. She really helped me out. And she even let us drive her car there. She's such a fun girl, and really is one of my best friends. We talked, we ate, we drove, we danced, we sang at the top of our lungs. Such a fun trip!

On Wednesday we hopped in the car and headed to Colorado.


It was a gorgeous drive. It didn't feel like nine hours, but that's what it ended up being. We arrived in Morrison just a bit before the concert started. The theater really is breathtaking. Those Coloradoans.. Colaradoites?.. sure are lucky to live so close to such an amazing venue.

The concert was so fun. The Killers put on an amazing show. They had fireworks and confetti bombs and crazy special effects. They sounded awesome and even had a good opening band. Bonnie and I screamed so much that our voices were ragged by the end. We danced like crazy and probably drove people crazy with all of the pictures we took.

After the concert was over there were so many people trying to leave, that we just decided to roll down the windows, enjoy the cool night air, and sing to the radio. People probably thought we were drunk, but we didn't care, we were having fun. We sang everything from Heart to Kanye. We were laughing until our stomachs hurt.

We stayed at a nice hotel with two very comfortable beds. We slept in, and then headed into the city.

We stopped at a darling shopping district, went to a yummy bakery, did some window shopping and munched on a sour cream muffin.


Then did a little antique shopping and headed back to Morrison to have lunch in their cute little town.

After lunch we headed home. We arrived around midnight. This is a picture we took on our way to Colorado..

Can you tell we played hard? It was an awesome trip. I was lucky to have such a fun travel buddy.

Miss Saigon

Thanks to Alana and Deboro for letting me hijack Deboro's ticket to go see Miss Saigon. I loved it. John was my favorite. When he sang his solo, I got chills. The musical had a very sad, haunting story, but was very entertaining. Thanks D for being so nice and letting me take your place. I decided he needed a treat for being so thoughtful of his little Catty. But dang him he's doing some intense weight training and is on a strict diet, so instead of a yummy little treat, I sent Alana home with these.

And don't worry the next time Bob and I get tickets to some sporting event.. the ticket's yours. Thanks again guys!

Ting Tings Concert

Last night the husband and I went to the Ting Tings concert.

It didn't start until nine, so we had to gear up for it.

A band called Hot Tub was the opening act. Yeah, they were mainly just weird and I'm pretty sure they were on some major drugs.

Then it was the Ting Tings. They were awesome! I love to dance at concerts and this music was perfect for it. Click here to get a sample of what they sing.

They both were really talented and could play tons of instruments. She even played the cowbell. (You can never have too much cowbell :)


They are both really rad. Bob and I had a blast.

By the end we were exhausted and as you can see pretty sweaty.


Yeah we felt pretty hip going to a concert and dancing late on a week night. Just call us rock stars. Yeah right. This morning I sure didn't feel like one :)

Rocking out in my car..

Do you ever let your mind wander while driving alone in the car, and then suddenly realize you're listening to an incredibly cheesy song, that you would never normally listen to?

Somethings wrong when you find yourself listening to this song with your windows down. (I may or may not have been sitting at a red light with that song blaring, and didn't realize it until I looked over at the car next to me with a man giving me a strange look.)

there's something about the new fall air, putting on a light jacket and just being that makes me happy. love fall in utah, just wish it would stick around a little longer. for some reason this song reminds me of fall, wrapping up in a blanket, and just sitting still. Listen here.

Sheryl Crow Concert

Last night we went to the Sheryl Crow concert. (stayed up way too late) Sheryl Crow was amazing, by far one of mine and Bob's favorite concerts. The opening acts suhhucked, but it was fun to make fun of them.

This is Bob dancing to the opening act. They were a cross between Reggae and Gospel music. So he was doing his gospel hands.

One of the things that made it so fun was Bob's aunt Nita and uncle Brad came with us. They are seriously some of the funniest people! You will never see Brad without a smile on his face, and you can always hear Nita saying funny remarks.

Nita and I got matching Sheryl Crow t-shirts.

Bob and I had a lot of fun hanging out on the lawn. Bob tells me I'm too picture crazy, but if I was going to smuggle in a camera, I was going to get good use out of it!

She even played my favorite song "I Can't Cry Anymore" (am making Bob teach me how to play it on the guitar) I was going crazy singing and dancing.

Such a fun night! Thanks to Nita, Brad, and Bob who were so fun to hang out with!

Double your pleasure, double your fun.

It seems to be the summer of duets. I love this, this and this, but this is my favorite. Could listen to it over and over.. and I have.

Weezer Concert

These guys are coming in concert on October 7th. Although they have been one of my favorite bands since I was in elementary school. I have every one of their cd's ever released.. and even though I have almost every single one of their songs memorized by heart. I still have not seen them in concert. Bob was lucky enough to see them and the Chili Peppers in Vegas a while back, but alas poor Caity hasn't seen them. (it seems in blog world I refer to myself in third person quite often)

I can't justify going though, because we have tickets for Sheryl Crow at the end of this month. Sheryl hasn't come to Utah in a very long time, so I figured I better jump at the chance to see her. After all she was my very first c.d. ever. Ah, nostalgia.

So here is what I am trying to determine... Is it worth it to try to go to both concerts? I am sure Weezer will tour again, but let's be honest.. I have a crush on Rivers. Okay there's the dilemma, suggestions?

Summer Music

This is happening up at Snowbird on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With all of our birthday festivities, I hope we can sneak away and check it out. I love listening to this kind of music outdoors, and just chillin' with the Hub.

Why were week day concerts invented?

Went to this concert last night...


I have to admit that I had no idea who these guys were. I just went because I love concerts, fireworks and hanging out with my girls...


But I also have to admit that I had a blast! I realized that I knew a lot of Collin Raye's songs. Every time he would sing one I knew, I would turn to Wink and Gibbs and say "I actually know this one!" Turns out I am a fan. I also didn't realize how dang attractive Josh Gracin is...


(*insert funny story here*) We were going to get drinks and see if we could get Josh's (we're on a first name basis) autograph. Well it turns out we walked right past him.. but not before Gibbs tapped him with her water bottle and said "Hey! That's Josh!" Well when Wink heard that she freaked and went into slightly psycho fan mode. She ran after him screaming "Josh, Josh, Josh, Josh!" This picture is her trying to get him to stop..


He just kept telling her he couldn't stop, until she grabbed his arm and then he kindly stopped and said fine lets take a picture. (It was lucky I had my camera out) He took this picture with Wink..


The whole thing happened so fast that neither Gibbs or I could get into the picture. So we decided to wait in line and get autographs. (see ticket above) I didn't even know any of the songs he sings, but hey, why not?


It was such a fun night. I think we seriously turned into 13 year old girls. It was just fun to let loose and not care what anyone thought of us and just dance and sing. (there is a video I might post later of our antics)

It was a great night even if it was 100 degrees and I did stay up way too late on a Monday! (1 a.m. never used to feel so late!) Thanks girls!
