Friday, Friday, Friday!

Have you seen this horrible video yet? It seriously cracks me up.

So I am sitting here at work with nothing to do except answer phones for the first time since I started here in January. I love the busy days. It makes the day fly by. Unfortunately I have little time for anything else.

I'm starting to get the hang of the new work schedule. I have even gone to the gym every day this week. It feels good. I feel bad I have been a little M.I.A in so many other thing in life. But for now, I think it's best to focus on my work, my health, and what little time I get with my husband. (We watched a Netflix last night. Have I mentioned I love Netflix?)

I am going to try to schedule some posts for the upcoming week, since I know it will be a busy one. We're heading to Moab for Easter weekend, and I'm getting excited. Also, there is an upcoming epic trip that I will discuss further as well.

Thanks for letting me ramble on. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Whipped..

Sometimes at parties my friends give their kids messy food..

And we laugh. Does this make us bad people? I don't think so. The kids love it. You should see Ella's face when she eats limes. Seriously cracks me up.

Well, have a good weekend. I have a photo shoot tomorrow. (I'm hoping the weather holds and doesn't get us drenched.) And Sunday we are celebrating Bob's birthday with my family. I'm hoping somewhere in there I can sleep in and do my last minute Christmas shopping.

And next week I should have the pictures from the Christmas party, Eric's surprise birthday, and maybe I will even snap a few of the birthday boy this weekend... if he lets me. Happy Weekend!

My October To Do List

Yes, I was a blog slacker for the month of September. But now that it's October, I am feeling the excitement of the upcoming holidays and Fall weather. So excited in fact that I have composed a little list of what exactly I would like to accomplish this month..

01. Buy some mini pumpkins and turn them into cute little candle holders. (That Martha sure is one smart cookie.)

02. Open the windows, let that Fall breeze in, and do some Halloween decorating.

03. Watch a spooky movie.. not scary, just spooky. I'm not a fan of scary. I'm thinking something like Invasion or Identity.. just something to put me in the Halloween spirit.

04. Four words.. dinner in a pumpkin. (Ever since Bonnie introduced me to this yummy tradition five years ago, I have been wanting to make it.)

05. Carve and decorate me some pumpkins.

06. Sleep with my windows open, and go for walks outside at night when the weather is crisp.

07. Dig out my favorite clothing. Scarves, jackets, hats. I'm excited!

08. Listen to Monster Mash and Dead Mans party.

09. Drive with my windows down. There's something about not having to be air conditioned that I love.

10. Take a drive up the canyons to snap some Fall leaves pictures. (I can cross this one off my list. Aubrie and I decided to head up a couple days ago since the word on the street is that the colors won't be there for long. But more on that on Monday.

Happy October 1st everyone!

Random Tuesday

I was looking through the pictures I have taken lately on my phone, and realized in the last 5 days I have a culmination of some of the most random/strange pictures. So I thought I would share them with you on this random Tuesday. A Tuesday that I have already had my car almost run out of gas. (I literally pulled into the gas station on fumes.) I've seen the bird that I presume made the outline on my window at work cannibalized by other birds. (Not a good day for that little tweety bird.) and have been told that cutting my hair would be like trading in a Rolls-Royce for a V.W. Bug.

Yes today is random, so I am embracing it with this random sampling of pictures. Enjoy.

Just looking through old pictures..

.. and laughing. Happy weekend! Hope you do something fun. We intend to hike, swim, eat, party, and hopefully sleep in.

Is this week over yet?

Lately while photographing, my eyes have been drawn to the little details. I love taking pictures of things that aren't all about the big picture. For instance, while camping I liked the lines and angles of our tent.

And while at the lake I was amazed at how reeds of grass could be transformed just by putting them against different backgrounds.

I guess I like making my photography abstract sometimes. Anyway, I know this is a random post, but my life is boring right now, and there isn't much going on.

Hopefully next week I will feel more inspired to blog. On a side note, I am very excited to have some of my favorite summer shows back on. (ie: SYTYCD and Wipeout.. seriously this show is genius.)

Random Topics of Conversation

So for the last couple of days, we have been hanging out with friends. Both nights I was asked if I was going to blog about that night's festivities. I hadn't planned on it, but after the weird conversations that happened, I don't see how I can't at least mention some of the insanity.

If you would have eavesdropped, you would have heard some pretty strange things..

- "Your spirit animal is a parakeet."

- "My dream job would be Batman."

- "That wasn't a passionate kiss, I just stuck my tongue in your mouth."

- "You're like a hamster, you're in a box and you want to get out."

- "My denim shirt is cool. It's not like an old man denim shirt that you would wear with a fanny pack."

- "You thought my Dad's parents names were Dale and Mitsy?" "Dale was my uncle, and Mitsy was my grandma's dog."

- "She had her snorkel mask on, and was hanging there with the worst wedgie of her life, screeching."

- "Say something manly, I'm starting to turn into a woman." "Hammers?"

- "If I got lost in the forest I would chop off his legs and take them with me."

- "Are cigarette's vegan?"

- "Wasn't she a botanist or something? She just kept looking at all of the plants while we were there."

- "I think I'm allergic to green."

- "You would eat a person? You're a vegetarian."

chirp, cheep, squawk, tweet..

is what i was listening to all morning.

i must have a million birds outside my window.

and since it's the time of year when i sleep with my window open..

it looks like i better get used to it.

i would compare the sound to that of twenty small children trying to get their mom's attention..

"mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom"

now don't get me wrong, i don't have anything against birds, it's just the sheer volume of them all with different chirps. It sounds less like lovely nature calls outside my window, and more like a bunch of birds dying at once.

i'm starting to feel like this.

Keep on the sunny side of life..

While I am sick of the snow and cold weather. I did appreciate the beautiful drive to work this morning. All of the trees were covered in snow, well everything was covered in snow. And it was pretty. Really pretty.

Yes, I agree. I agree. Grrr, snow. But I am trying to look on the bright side. It's really stunning. The white everywhere, the white in the mountains. Now don't get me wrong, I am excited for warmer weather like you wouldn't believe. But while we don't have it, I thought I would remind myself of the good things that the snow has to offer..

Like with this colder weather, I can still wear bulky clothes that hide the imperfections on my body, that shorts, and thin t-shirts just can't.

And it makes vegging out more fun. Not to mention I can still drink hot chocolate. Curling up in a blanket and watching t.v. is nice. And when the weather is crappy, it doesn't make me feel as guilty spending time reading and watching t.v. instead of doing things a bit more productive. I mean it's not like I can go jogging outside.

Cold weather is my favorite sleeping weather. When I can crawl under a big blanket and it's not hot at all in the room, but the bed is nice and warm, I sleep really well. I am not looking forward to the hot nights that keep me from sleeping. So for now, I am okay with a bit of cold weather.

But once May comes a knockin' the snow better be long gone. Happy snowy Tuesday!

Happy Birthday Blog

Today marks the two years I have been blogging. Wow, where does time go? I am so glad I still have a few people reading my blog. It's been quite a year, and I'm happy to have a place to share about it.

Oh and happy April Fools Day! I hope you pull some good pranks. I have never really gotten anyone good. Though in 4th grade I told my friend that a piece of frozen fish was a Popsicle and she believed me, I think she may have even licked it.

Happy April!

You've lost your muchiness, you were once muchier..

..last night there was much snow.. much laughter.. much fun.

{You will have to excuse me from making much sense today. Saw the midnight showing of Alice and Wonderland. You better go see it to understand. And while you're there take some fun people. It makes things so much better.}

Happy Weekend! {Did I stay up 'til 3 am gallivanting around the city, having yummy dinner, seeing a great movie, and taking pictures of all the snow? Why, yes.. yes I did. Might explain why I'm so tired today.}

Love Month

This being the month of love, I decided to jot down some of what I'm loving right now..

01. Feeling healthier, and losing a bit of weight.

02. That my husband let's me warm up my cold feet on him when we crawl into bed.

03. When our good friends find out they're pregnant after a long time of trying and painful procedures.

04. Catching up with old friends.

05. When my husband makes me tasty, yet healthy dinners.

06. Our parents endless kindness and thoughtfulness.

07. The sunshine out my window today.

08. My support system of family and friends.

09. My husband making me laugh every single day.

10. That January is O-V-E-R. We're just one step closer to warmer weather.

Look-a-like

Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity?

I get this a lot.. "Hey, you look like the girl from that 70's show." (I don't see it, it must be the red hair.)

List of Five

Name your list of five. Just a silly list of celebrities that you find most attractive, most alluring, most dynamic.

I think it's harmless and fun to have celebrities that you think are attractive and interesting. So in the name of fun, I am listing the five celebrities that I wouldn't mind {if I were single} being placed on a deserted island with..

1. Andy Roddick (Super cute, and I am a sucker for tennis players.)

2. Jared Leto (Ever since I saw him on My So Called Life, he's had my sixteen year old heart.)

3. Jack Johnson (I find musicians extremely attractive.)

4. Ryan Reynolds (Funny, and his physique? Um hello?)

5. Daniel Craig (My favorite Bond of all time.)

(Honorable mention goes to Paul Newman circa 1967)

Now I want to hear your "list of five".. (and none of this "But Caitlin, I'm married, I only think my husband or wife is attractive." This is just for fun, nothing serious.)

Childhood Celebrity Crush..

The other day I was watching one of my favorite talk shows and Christian Slater was her guest. Oh how the memories came flooding back.

Christian Slater was the guy I "crushed on" when I was younger. He was always the first celebrity I would talk about at sleep-overs. He was the coolest. His hair, his bad boy attitude, his voice. And I was obsessed with this show.

Sure I had the fleeting crushes of Jonathan Taylor Thomas.. or better known to people from my age group.. JTT. And Andrew Keegan. But Christian Slater always had my heart. This got me really interested in who every one's childhood crush was.

So please indulge me and share which celebrity's pictures you had adorned on your walls or shrieking to your friends about.

January Schmanuary

January. January. The month of cold, dreary weather. Don't get me wrong. I like the snow. I like seeing it in the valley. It's pretty. But come January is hazy and cold, with little snow. And plenty of frost on the windshields, from the icy winds.

Needless to say, it's not my favorite month. The excitement of the holidays have passed, and now it's just cold, cold, cold. There's not enough sun for my liking and that sometimes puts me in a sour mood.

So to get me out of my grouchy January funk, I am turning to photography. (I was inspired by this cute blog.) At the end of every month I will post a couple pictures that remind me of that month. That way, I can get out there and explore the beautiful things January has to offer. So play along if you like. I always love seeing photography through other's eyes. (above is an example of what December might look like.)

Herbert

I decided to give my parents part of their Christmas gift early. It was just a small 5x7 picture of a street. Herbert Avenue. Odd? Yes, to most people it would be a weird gift. But for my parents, it seemed to be just the right thing.

My parents call each other Herbert. They have since shortened it to Herb in later years. Why? No idea. I have absolutely no clue where it started, or why, but I love it. I love that they have found a unique "pet name". None of this honey bear, sweetie pie stuff. It just wouldn't suit them.

I would come home from school and see a scribbled note they had exchanged. It would say something like..

Herb,

Could you take out the garbage?

Herb

My parents are not the most physically affectionate, but they have the best little ways of expressing love. It's never a big show with them. It's just for each other. They are one of the best examples of a good marriage I can think of. I also think it helps to have a sense of humor to be called Herbert all of the time.

Somebody should have told me not to leave the house like that.

Apparently blogger hates me today, and won't let me load the video I was planning to load for today's post. So until I can get it to play, I give you this very random, yet Christmas-ee post.

Well actually just a picture of me from 13 years ago. Apparently it was cool back then to have frizzy hair, caterpillar eyebrows, high waisted wide legged jeans, and wait, is that a silky shirt I see? Oh to have a time machine..
