BobCat Banter

Last night I decided to finally watch something Bob had recorded for me about a year ago. This was pre-tivo so it was on VHS (We still have a prehistoric VHS player?? Yes, I can hear the gasps.)

I was watching a re-run that Vh1 had played of the very first Bachelorette. Bob came in, plopped down on the bed and watched it with me for a bit.

(Before you read on, you should know Bob likes to tease me.. relentlessly.. especially when he knows I am trying to do something. He says he likes how he can always get a reaction out of me.. then says, it's kind of like when you poke a baby, to see it's reaction. Yes, one more reason why we shouldn't have children.. although.. then maybe he could bug them.. yeah, really shouldn't be parents yet.)

Bob- "What are you watching?"

Cat- "This is that show you recorded for me a year ago"

Bob- "Wow, all of these guys have really bad hair." "And what are they all wearing?"

Cat- "Well you do have to remember this was like 10 years ago, the styles have changed a bit."

Bob- "First you tell me I recorded this for you a year ago, and now it's ten?"

Cat- "It's a re-run"

Bob- "Listen Caity, I'm pretty sure I didn't record this ten years ago.. I mean I was 17."

Cat- "We didn't even know each other ten years ago, you nerd."

Bob- "Oh so now you retract your previous statement?"

Cat- "Why are you trying to aggravate me?"

Bob- "Wow, after ten years of marriage you sure have gotten grumpy."

Cat- (rolling eyes) I bet Trista never has to deal with this from Ryan.

I Spy

Saturday Bob went to school to study for a couple hours. So I stayed home to watch Alias Season One (It had been a while since I had seen it, so Eric kindly lent it to me. Because he's my dealer.) When Bob got back we had this conversation..

me: "How was studying?"

bob: "Boring. What did you do?"

me: "I just infiltrated a Russian spy group, you know the usual."

bob: "Alias huh?"

me: "Yeah."

bob: "You know you're not actually a spy right?"

me: "I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you."

bob: (rolling his eyes) Okay Cait, maybe it's time we walk away from the t.v. and go outside.

me: "You mean maybe it's time I do a spinning kick."..... "Yeah, okay maybe I should walk away for a while."

Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory

Bob and I have found a new t.v. obsession. Of course we love Flight of the Conchords, but since we don't have HBO, we have a harder time watching it regularly. My new favorite show on t.v. is (MTV's) Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. (click to see a clip)

He is a pro skate boarder. He used to have a show called Rob and Big, but this one is even better. Not only is he one of the funniest guys, but he does cool tricks, hangs out with cool people and has THE cutest dogs in existence. One can even skateboard. Seriously watch this show. So funny!

We have a big announcement!

Sometimes I get a little jealous that I don't have a baby to showcase on my blog. I don't get to post cute pictures and anecdotes about them.

Well now I do. Introducing our brand new addition to the family.. Mr. Tivo, but you can call him Mr. T (thanks Eric for helping us nickname him) Look how cute he is.

He is really smart. He can record shows for us, he can pause them, he can even fast forward through those commercials. We love him and can't imagine life without him. (Mom and Susan you must want pictures to put in your wallet to brag about your new lil' grandtivo. I will get some printed up.)

I like to make sure I capture all of his "firsts" on camera..

I even dress him up in cute clothes.

Alana and Jess let's get our kiddo's together soon for a play date. Also maybe we can get Eric to bring over his Teddy Tivo and we can make a play date out of it!

Oh and I couldn't resist posting this picture. Bob is such a good daddy already. I snuck a picture of him and Mr. T sleeping..

Bachelor Night

Monday night we watched the game. Unfortunately since it was a snow storm not everyone could make it downtown to join us. We ate, laughed and watched.

There were prizes.

And of course the infamous chart.

It was a fun night. Even London watches the Bachelor.

It's at her house next week. Love Bachelor Monday's!

It's that time again..

Some enjoy Fantasy Football. They love researching, getting drafting tips, and strategizing. Nobody makes fun of these people. Okay, some people might make fun. But for the most part, it's a way for guys to bond. To feel important.

I prefer the female version of this sort of thing. Some of my friends and I (I won't name names) get together and we draft our picks. We scrutinize the "players" and we okay, I make a chart. Not just any chart, a Bachelor chart.

Each episode we strip the chart of the girl (or player if you prefer) that just didn't cut it. Each episode we get closer and closer to finding which of our picks are going to make it. In the mean time we see a similar thing the guys see. We see players duking it out. We see blood, sweat, tears. And the most important, we see the girl who drinks far too much, cries to the camera and contemplates why she is 35 and not married.

We see the girls steal the ball (the guy) from the others. We see the other girls tackle the ball (the guy) We see the girls make blunders that will go down in Bachelor history. My husband may make fun of my intensity. But to be fair, this is just a girls football game of sorts. So bring it..

That's right. It's time for the Bachelor. And anyone who wants to join the party is invited.

Caity's Apartment

Game Day: January 5th 2009

Game Time: 6:00 p.m. (2 hour episode)

There will be treats served, there will be prizes given. Please be prepared with your top 15 girls. I will be giving out prizes for categories such as:

Which girl do you think will win the 1st impression rose?

Which girl will become the most hysteric when not chosen?

Which girl will drink too much and embarrass herself?

Who will the mean girl be?

So if you feel like joining us on GAME DAY, you're invited. And yes, there will be a chart. But not some flimsy weak sauce chart. NO, this one will be legendary.

sick of being sick

been home sick for the last two days with bronchitis. i have now become an expert on..

- paris hilton and her new bff
- the not quite complex inner workings of britney spears ("i have been through hell and heaven. hell is so hard, and well heaven is heaven.. y'know?") wow brit, that's pretty deep

I also..

- watched one episode of mtv's parental control, and let me tell you it was one too many
- found out that saved by the bell comes on at 6 a.m.
- blew my nose so many times that if you were to look at my floor you wouldn't be able to see the carpet, only tissues
- lost my voice, got it back, and now sound like a smoker.. or a sexy lounge singer (i prefer the latter)
- watched an entire marathon of jon and kate plus eight (cured me from wanting kids for a while)
- watched tyra banks flounder as a talk show host, while i like antm, i found it's actually painful to watch the tyra show

realized..

-though i feel like crap, i am happy to be back to reality

Iron Chef Caitlin

Last night I started having delusions of grandeur. It all started with me watching the Food Network. (How does anyone have a t.v. without this station!?) Rachael Ray was showing how to make a Thanksgiving dinner in an hour. She was making it look so easy and incredibly tasty that I started planning in my head. The next show was Iron Chef America. As I watched the chefs prepare and plate their dishes, I started thinking, I should start making my food look pretty on the plate like they do. Then to finish it up, Ace of Cakes came on and by that point I was sure I was a master chef and I could make fondant cakes like that. After all, it looked so easy. (Don't judge me for watching 3 hours of t.v. The Food Network sucks you in!!)

So when Bob got back from studying, I informed him that I was going to make us a turkey dinner with herbs stuffed in it, potatoes with reggiano parmesan cheese, an onion and apple stuffing.. (the list goes on) I informed him that I learned how to do on t.v. and people were going to be amazed at my mad skills. Bob (being the supportive husband he is) said, "Yeah, you should do it, I'm sure it would be awesome."

Then Bob said, "Why don't you get started now, and make us a turkey sandwich." I nuzzled up to him, gave him a kiss on the cheek, and said "But you make them better." ~ "But, I thought you were going to be an awesome chef with mad skills." (me) "Eh, I'll be an Iron Chef tomorrow."

just kidding, just kidding..

Click here to see just one of the reasons I love Kristen Wiig from SNL. Her Judy and Penelope characters have me in stitches every time. (If you have seen Ghost Town, she was the doctor that gets the spray tan.)

Addiction

Confession time. I have an addiction. You know the kind that has you jones-in' for it in the middle of the night? The kind of addiction where you wake up in a cold sweat, and only one thing can help. You will be at a party surrounded by people and all you want to do is sneak out. Well I think it's time I stand up and confess...

My name's Caitlin and I have a box set addiction. It's bad. I have even been known to watch a whole disk in one night. I have even stayed up till the wee hours of the morning watching. My latest I am watching is Brothers and Sisters. I sneak home from work on my lunch hour and eat my lunch whilst I watch. And to me, this is a slice of heaven.

Eric is usually my dealer, but others have been known to get me my fix. My past addictions include and are not limited to..

Yes, I have a problem. But with all this being said, does anyone have any box set recommendations? (I can quit anytime)

and the medal goes to..

It was such an intense night of women's gymnastics. China won the gold, and America won the silver. If you look at the pictures you will notice two things..

1- It appears that the girls from China are about 3 years old.

and

2- The American girls are all smiling, but in their heads they are thinking the only reason they are wearing silver medals is because of one teammate in particular. The one that I am sure did some heavy drinking after the competition. (click here to see what I mean)

I heart Jason..

I have been pulling for this darling man ever since the the first night of the Bachelorette. I am crossing my fingers that he is the next Bachelor. (though I doubt it with the kid situation) Can I just say that I liked him even better last night after he called Deanna out about Graham? No matter what she says, she had a major thing for Graham, and since he wasn't as head over heals for her, he cut himself, and she was left to blink, blink.. choose Jesse. That girl had more tears in one show than all the other season's of the Bachelor combined.

Jason, be glad you don't have to deal with her. It would be a constant struggle with who needs more attention.. your three year old son, or "D" (as Jesse so cutely calls her)

Yes, I think you can dance.

I may be the only one that watches this show. But what can I say? I love dance! This was my favorite performance last night. Click here to watch it. (The girl is from Utah)

Quick Recap

For those of you who missed the Bachelorette last night.. let me give you a quick recap...

Sean turns out to be a mama's boy who has a five bedroom house, a hummer, name brand clothing, and a tanning booth. Why? Because he "always needs the best". (I think he insisted on telling the camera, in hopes that even though he didn't have a shot with Deanna, perhaps another "Blue Grass" girl would come along and be dazzled)

Sean: "I would rather carry a loaded gun, then go home and not have you know how much you mean to me." (I think all of the ABC producers panicked at that comment... "What did he say Bill? He has a loaded gun?")

Deanna: "Blink, blink"

Deanna begs kisses from Graham, and Jesse. (Jeremy is more than happy to kiss her as well as embarrass himself in front of not only Deanna, but the whole country, singing what surely should have been left in the shower)

..and Twilley? Well he dances to the beat of a very different drum.

(Eric, Katy, and I had a lot of fun last night eating brownies and making fun of this sometimes ridiculous show.)

Meet Jermaine and Bret...

I know I already posted about the Flight of the Conchords, but after hanging out with Ami and Jon this weekend, I rediscovered how freakin' hilarious they are. Stop what your doing and search YOUTUBE for them. "Bret, you got it goin on..."

Why I love my Husband {reason # 165}

He records shows for me that he hates. So I can watch them when I get home from work. And since this one is a marathon, he is willing to switch out the tapes three times. (We really need to get a Tivo)
I never got to see how these two got together. So on my lunch break I noticed the Trista Bachelorette was on, and said out loud how much I wished I could just call in sick and watch it for the rest of the day. Before I left to go back to work Bob was setting up an old VCR to record it for me! I have a good husband.

(fyi: Bachelor marathons all week long on VH1)

It's about time!

It finally happened! A plus sized girl has won ANTM. Well I guess the term is full figured. I know this probably won't change every ones minds about being anorexic, or getting liposuction. But it is a step in the right direction! I am all for being healthy. BE HEALTHY! But please, please, please don't let it overtake your mind. Try not to be obsessed with weight.

I have always struggled with this. I have always felt like I needed to change my body. To just lose a little bit more weight. It's hard not to think that way when you are assaulted by it in the media. I can't remember a time when I looked at myself in a swimsuit and thought. "Wow, I look good!" I understand that you need to look good and take care of yourself. But I am wondering if we are taking this to the extreme.

For the last couple of years I have been trying to change the way I think about my weight and my appearance. Now, while I am so so far away from being where I want to be with this. I am trying to change my focus. I am starting by doing things for me. I am putting on makeup and getting dressed cute for me. Not for anyone else. Not because I need validation. (which whether us girls admit to it or not, we seek) I have gotten a gym membership so I can lose weight the healthy way. I am not starving myself to be a size two. I am trying to be realistic with myself.

Please don't think this is me bragging in any way. Because it is not intended that way. I struggle with this very frequently. I just think that if everyone tried to not care so much about weight and appearance. We would be happier. We would be healthier. I am trying to incorporate this into my life.

I also have a very important tool to help me with this. I am extremely lucky to have Bob in my life. He motivates me, he loves me just how I am, he tells me I am beautiful even if my hair is a mess and I don't have a stitch of makeup on. He encourages me to do things that will make me happy. He helps me to not worry about what others may think about me. He helps me realize that I need to do what makes me happy. I love him. And wouldn't be who I am today without him.

I guess what I am trying to say is women are beautiful. The girl who won ANTM is gorgeous. I think we as women would think a lot more of ourselves if we accepted that not all of us are meant to be as skinny as Hollywood might tell us we should be. If we accepted that we needed to be healthy, but not so thin that our thighs don't touch. Or be constantly aware of how we look. I wish we could understand that A- life is not all about being beautiful and skinny and B- If we would start believing that we were wonderful we might just realize that we are. Just thought I would share a goal I am working on.
