Life Insurance
Cat: "With my new job I get life insurance."
Bob: "Sweet."
Cat: "You're not going to off me to collect are ya?"
Bob: "Nah, chances are you won't make it that long with how clumsy you are."

The snow arrived fashionably late..
I am still going through the pictures I took of our Christmas. So in the mean time I thought I would share with you our snow day from yesterday.
We took a relaxing drive up north. Bob loves the snow, so we headed where there was a tad more of it. We went up to Bountiful. We looked at all of the enormous houses on the hill, and then went up the canyon by the big "B". It was nice to just hang out the two of us and enjoy the views.

I love this in between time. I am enjoying not having a lot to do. Happy Monday. Hope your holiday was delightful.

Weekend Party
We had a blast at our annual Christmas party this year. This is the only picture Bob and I got together, and as you can see it's pretty awefsome. Oh well, we had fun, and are in the Christmas spirit. More picture to come soon. I have to get back to doing a million things. Hopefully things settle down after Bob's birthday next week, and we can do some sleeping in and relaxing.Happy Monday, hope your weekend was great.

Pizza, Cleaning, and Conan (but not in that order)
On a side note, let's play I SPY. Can you find the broken mistletoe that didn't make it from last years craziness? How about the plentiful shreds of paper? We finally went through and shredded, do you know how long that takes when you haven't done it for 4 years?? Can you spot the gnome hiding? And for those of us that came to last year's party, you might spot a certain little yellow creature.. it's making a comeback this year.
Happy December 3rd! I'm listening to Elvis sing me Silver Bells.

Common Interests
Cat: "I think we should do something together that we both like, find a common interest."
Bob: "See, I don't know if that will work, I don't like a lot of the same things that you do." "Like babies, estrogen.. voting off by elimination."
Cat: "What about a cooking class."
Bob: "No good. Have you seen how clumsy you are? You would burn yourself." "Besides I don't want to make souffles.. I want to make some manly barbecue.
Cat: "I give up."

Happy Anniversary Robert

It seems like every year, I love and appreciate Robert more than the year before, and I can't believe it's possible. Just when I think I'm full to the brim with love and admiration, another year of ups and downs happens, and I see how truly good I have it. I suppose when we're 80, I will be bursting at the seams. Happy Anniversary Babe.

Summery Saturday
Our Saturday was chalk full of fun. We hiked, we swam, we ate really yummy food, and we saw one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Just your typical Summer fun. Here are a couple of snapshots from the pool.. (courtesy of Bob)

Ella thought we were all crazy..
..and judging by this video, I think she might be right. (Leave it to Eric to have a camera handy for this. Hey, at least Bob and I have fun right?)

After almost four years of marriage, Bob still has this hanging in his Bronco. (It's his boutonniere from our wedding.) He hung it on the rear view mirror right after our reception on the way to the hotel. I asked him once why he still had it in there years later. He said it was a reminder of one of the happiest days of his life. For as much as Bob isn't a sentimental goober like me, it's nice to know he isn't dead inside like I always tease him that he is.
(Case in point.. we were watching UP in the theater, and I was bawling my eyes out, when he looked over at me and incredulously asked "Are you really crying? It's a cartoon Caity." "But the wife just died!" "Caity, they just stopped drawing her. She's a cartoon.")

Savers aren't hoarders.
{Sorry I have been m.i.a as of late. Still not feeling great, and a lot of stress comes with that, along with all the medical procedures. Finger's crossed that Monday we will get some answers. Anyway..}
I came home last night to a very clean house. My husband is the man, and cleaned our apartment from top to bottom. He also organized everything. When I went to thank him for all his hard work, this is how he responded..
Bob- "Cait, why do you have a bunch of garbage in the closet?"
Cat- "What? I don't have garbage."
Bob- "I was going through everything to organize and you have a ton of junk in boxes."
Cat- "What kind of junk?"
Bob- "Tons of old toys, and papers, and notes, and just a bunch of garbage you could throw away."
Cat- "Those things aren't garbage!"
Bob- "Caity, I hate to break it to you, but you're a hoarder."
Cat- "I am not a hoarder."
Bob- "I found a hacky sack. A hacky sack you could buy for two bucks."
Cat- "I'm saving it for our kids, what if one day our son turns into a hacky sack champion because I gave him that?" "We don't want to take that away from him Bob.", "You'll thank me one day when we don't have to buy toys for our children."
Bob- "Caity, in the future our kids are going to be playing with hover cars, and moving smoke clouds with their minds."
Then he made me go into the office and open a random box and explain why I needed the stuff inside it. I pulled out a map of Seattle, a lotto scratch ticket, and an old candy bar... Okay, he might have a point.
So I am making this my new goal, to get rid of some junk. On Monday I will hopefully return a de-cluttered person.
On a side note, my argument was "What if I die Bob? Then you will have all of this stuff to remember me by." He responded with "I would be sad. But then I would look at all of this junk and it would suddenly make it easier for me."

Bob's new job..
Last night I had a dream that Bob came to me and said he was leaving to go camping, and fishing. And that he was doing charity work while we was there. He informed me that he would be excavating and painting fossils for charity. He also said that he would be gone for six months.
I woke up in a panic, hoping that Bob hadn't really left me to go paint fossils. I was relieved to find out it was just a dream. But is this really what I am subconsciously worried about? And further more, what kind of charity work is that anyway??

Dancing Queen
A little after Bob and I got married ABBA's song Dancing Queen came on the radio while we were both in the car. I started to sing to it, Bob asked me to repeat the lyrics I had just sung, and then the conversation went something like this..
Cat: "You can dance, you can die, having the time of your life."
Bob: "So just to clarify you think the lyrics are you can dance, you can die?"
Cat: "Yeah, why?"
Bob: "Well I think it's jive."
Cat: "What? I thought that was a saying." "You can die having the time of your life."
Bob: "Yeah I'm pretty sure ABBA wasn't singing about dying."
Cat: "Are you sure about this?"
Bob: "Cait, the whole world is sure about that."
Since I married Bob, he has pointed out I sing most songs with the wrong lyrics. Like maybe Jingle Bells. Don't ask.

My Song
I often joke that the way Bob got me to marry him was by writing me a song. Well it's not the reason why I married him (there are too many reasons to count) but it was a turning point in our relationship.
We had been dating, but nothing too serious. One night he took me home and mentioned that he had written me a song. That's when I got nervous. After all, there are a lot of guys out there who play the guitar, and think they are musical geniuses. When usually they are pretty bad singers, and the songs are a little weird. I know that sounds harsh, but I have dated some guys that know how to play a few chords on the guitar, and think they can throw a song together and make a girl swoon.
I didn't know if Bob could sing. I knew he played the guitar, but hadn't heard him play much. No guy had ever written me a song before, so I just didn't know what to say. He picked up on the fact that I was a little nervous about hearing it, and quickly said "Never mind, it's no big deal." I asked him what it was about. "You." He said matter of factly. I begged him to sing it, but he didn't have his guitar, and he wasn't sure after my reaction if he wanted to play it for me at all.
Well one night he took me to our spot that overlooks the city and played (and sang) my song for me.
And that's when I realized he was something very different. He is an amazing singer, and he plays the guitar so well. But that's not what got me. The lyrics were so perfect, that I was in tears. Not to mention the way he was looking at me while he played it, like he adored me. Me? The girl who dated guys, but it never went anywhere. Sure I had dated guys who liked me, but never like this. I could see then, that Bob was something else. I remember feeling so flattered. But the thing that touched me the most was that he didn't buy me something extravagant. He didn't make a big show of it. He had put thought into what I would like, and appreciate. And sang how he felt about me.
I still don't know how I got so lucky to marry a person like Bob. A person that is kind, and generous, and funny. I can't imagine what my life would have been like without him, or if I had married someone else. I know one thing, I wouldn't be anywhere near as happy.
(Bob hates it when I gush about him, but it's love month, and it feels appropriate to talk about the one I love most. So he'll just have to deal with it :)

Communication is key..
{I should preface this story with the fact that this was during a special time of month. And I was weepy and cranky.}
A couple nights ago my friend came over to workout with me. After we were finished, Bob had made us a healthy dinner and we were all talking. Well at one point he complimented my friend by saying that she was an excellent communicator. After she left, we had a conversation that went something like this..
(Bob) "Caity, do you want to watch this show with me?"
(Cat) **pouty silent treatment**
(Bob) "Caity, are you giving me the silent treatment?"
(Cat) "No." (still pouting)
(Bob) "Cait, what's wrong?"
(Cat) "You didn't say I was an excellent communicator."
(Bob) "Well that's just implied. You are the best communicator."
(Cat) "Really?"
(Bob) "Yep, and you're pretty."
That Bob, is one smart guy. {And let's all just ignore the fact that the silent treatment might not be the best form of communication.}

The first date..

To this day Bob and I can't agree on when we first met. Although I am telling you right now, I have a good memory, and Bob has a hard time remembering what happened last week. So I think we know who's story is right.
He says we met in a bowling alley, I say we met at my house playing games. Either way, we met. But we didn't date right off the bat. In fact, I kind of thought he was weird, and he thought I was a little snobby. (Just goes to show, don't judge a book by it's cover.)
Besides.. I was dating someone, and he was dating.. well everyone. Eventually I started losing interest in the guy I was dating, and Bob and I happened to be somewhere together with some mutual friends. I was goofing around, and as we were all leaving, I grabbed his hand and said.. "C'mon Bob".
{At the time I didn't think anything of it. But when I asked Bob what made him ask me out later that night, he said, "Because you grabbed my hand, so I figured you were interested."}
Well later that night I met up with some other friends to get some late night Denny's. We were all laughing and talking so loud, I didn't hear the phone ring. When I got the message, it was Bob asking me out to dinner.
I was flattered, and kind of caught off guard since we had known each other for a while, and we had never talked about dating. So we made plans for a date.
We went on a double date with our friends who had introduced us. We played pool and ate at Stone Ground downtown. Then we headed back to our friend's apartment to play games. We ended up playing one of the funniest games of Truth or Dare. I laughed so hard that night, my cheeks hurt.
I also remember getting dared to dance to no music and to keep a straight face and not laugh. (Which is THE most embarrassing thing. You wouldn't think it would be so bad, but try it sometime. It's awkward.) Bob was incredibly nice all night. He really made me feel like I was the most important person in the room at all times.
I have heard stories of love at first sight, and knowing there was something special from the first meeting, or the first date. That wasn't Bob and me. After the first date, I didn't even know if I liked him that way.
But I'll tell you one thing. I knew right off the bat that Bob was a guy any girl would be lucky to date. He had me laughing from the start of the date to the very end. He is super smart, he complimented me all night long. He had such an innate way of making me feel special and important. He was just that really genuine good guy you always hear about. The guy you are always hoping to find when your friends set you up.
Years later, after we had been married for quite sometime, we were talking about when we were dating. That's when he told me, that he didn't think I was snobby back when we first met, like he had originally said. He thought I was out of his league.
I realized right then that I was the luckiest girl to have met someone who always knows just what to say and is always sincere when he says it. He always manages to make me feel special and amazing. Even with all of my imperfections. Bob is a blessing I appreciate every single day I get to spend with him. Even those days he eats beef jerky in bed.
Yeah, I married a good one. Happy Birthday (On Sunday) Robert.

Our first night in the new apt.
Last night Bob and I moved all of the big stuff to the new place. (ie: bed, armoire, couches, etc..) We just have a bit more before we're all moved in. But it was our first night sleeping in the new place. So to celebrate we ordered a pizza, and in the midst of boxes we ate and watched Arrested Development. (our latest box set addiction)
It was a delightful night. We scuttled to and fro between the two apartments, lugging furniture, listening to Nirvana, talking and laughing.
I even enjoyed a bath in the new apartment. I went from an elf bathtub, to one designed for a regular sized person. I could stretch out and do cartwheels in there. Okay, maybe not cartwheels per se, but you get the idea. I kept prancing around and singing "I love our new place" in a little sing song voice. Bob just rolled his eyes and lovingly called me a nerd. It was a pretty fun night in the new BobCat apartment.
Oh and have you seen Arrested Development? It's pretty hilarious.

The hippo fiasco

Last night Bob and I moved some stuff out of my parents basement, that they have so kindly let me store for a while.
Well when I was younger I would collect Hippopotamuses. Not the giant 4500 pound creatures, but the stuffed, wooden, and even occasional magnet variety. They're my favorite animal, and for a while there, for every birthday I would get Hippo's from everyone. I eventually grew out of that, and realized I have no where to put everything, but I wanted to keep them for my kids to play with.
Well when I asked Bob to take the enormous box of hippo paraphernalia to the car. He told me I was trying to take away his manhood by having those in the house.
"But what about when we have kids?!"
"We'll give them a Metallica shirt to play with. And further more, what person in their right mind saw a ferocious wild animal like the hippo, and decided to make it into a plush toy with a tutu? I'm telling you right now it was a woman."
Bob may have a little surprise when he gets in his car today. I might have innocently propped a stuffed hippo on his steering wheel.
