30 Amazing Years

This weekend we celebrated a dear friend's birthday. We raced all around the city, and even to Mars, but more on our Amazing Race tomorrow.

Aubrie and Greg's Maternity Pictures

Aubrie didn't want the typical maternity shots. She just wanted to get a couple shots of her and her husband relaxing at home on the couch. And maybe one or two of her belly for a baby book. I was really happy with how they turned out, very "slice of life". Also, I am amazed at how good Aubrie looks. We took these about a week before her due date.

Their sweet little baby was born last Tuesday with something called Ebstein's Anomaly. Poor little guy has been hanging out at Primary Children's. Lots of prayers being sent their way. I can't wait to finally meet little Cooper. He has so much hair, and in my opinion looks just like Aubrie.

Happy Birthday Jack and Dad!

We celebrated Jackson, and my dad's birthdays on Sunday.

(As you can see, they both love getting their pictures taken.) There was also a mischievous little fellow wandering around helping them open their presents..

And sampling any drink that was sitting in plain view.

Happy weekend! I intend to sleep in at some point.. or take a nap.. or both. Ah, I love weekends.

Life Insurance

Cat: "With my new job I get life insurance."

Bob: "Sweet."

Cat: "You're not going to off me to collect are ya?"

Bob: "Nah, chances are you won't make it that long with how clumsy you are."

Black and White New Years Partay

Yes, I am finally posting about New Years. What can I say? I've been busy.

Thanks to Gavin and Jessica who hosted a great New Years bash. In honor of their theme, I changed all of the pictures to black and white.

Here's to a great 2011!

2010 in Cinema

2010 was a great year for movies. These were my top ten faves..

1. Inception (LOVED IT, really unique, and had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.)
2. 127 Hours (I am putting this as number 2 because WOW. The acting, the intensity, everything. I really hope James Franco gets the Academy.)
3. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (This movie had me laughing out loud. Loved how different it was, loved the soundtrack, loved the filming, loved it. So much in fact I saw it twice in the theatres and that's saying a lot.)
4. Easy A (Emma Stone is one of my new favorite comedians, and I will forever laugh when I hear "Pocket Full of Sunshine")
5. The A Team (I think this is lower on my list because I saw it at the drive-in and was really tired.)
6. Red (I was surprised how much I liked this movie.)
7. How to Train Your Dragon (I enjoyed this movie just a tad more than Toy Story 3, just because it was different and had a lot of heart.)
8. Toy Story 3 (Yes, I was one of those people that cried. Really touching, and a great way to end the series.)
9. The Other Guys (This movie had me cracking up the whole time. But I do tend to like Will Ferrell more than others.)
10. Alice in Wonderland (Beautiful filming, and the Queen of Hearts stole the show for me.)

Honorable mention goes to Catfish for how it haunted me, Knight and Day for surprising me with how much I didn't hate Tom Cruise in it, and Date Night for the laughs and funny lines. And believe it or not I liked Devil. I thought it was good for a popcorn muncher.

I saw Black Swan, and though I liked it okay, and yes Natalie Portman was really good at acting all crazy, I just don't get all the hype. Though, it was pretty built up for me before I saw it, so it could be that.

(I should say I still haven't seen True Grit, The Fighter, or Blue Valentine. All on my list of one's I need to see before the Academy Awards.)

One Word

If I were going to sum up 2010 in one word, I think I would choose CHAOS. It was one hectic year. So my goal for 2011 is to make my word BALANCE.

A lot has changed in just these few short weeks of 2011. The biggest is that I have a new job. It is in a lot of ways way better than my last job. The only slight drawback is that I don't have all the free time to blog and edit pictures that I did before.

Part of my goal to become more balanced, is to put my priorities in order. Unfortunately last year I tried to do everything. Instead of doing the important things first and then letting the less important stuff come as I had time for it. Which really just means I was trying to do everything and was pretty much falling short every time. Which caused me to feel a lot of anxiety.

Anyway, I am going to do my best to blog as much as I can. But for now it might be a little sparse as I try to balance my life. (This week I had time to schedule a post a day.) Hope 2011 is going well for all of you. Mine has been an adventure so far. But more on that later.

Happy New Year!

Happy 1-1-11! (what's strange is I happened to look at my phone today at 1:11) I am feeling excited for what this new year will bring.
