Paris? Oui.

Wow, seeing all of these cool pictures from around the world with this corner view is making me want to travel outside the country again! In fact yesterday I was looking through old pictures and I found some from the BobCat's trip to Paris.

My mom and Susan will probably be surprised by this, I don't think they knew we went. But we did. Let me tell you it was a very romantic trip. I have a few pictures of us by the Eiffel Tower. The day was perfect. There were perfect fluffy clouds in the perfect blue sky. It was almost as if it had been a painting.

(this is Bob's "French face")

Very romantic as you can see from the picture below. We can't wait to go back.

(Whenever I try to get Bob to kiss me in front of the camera he always does something ridiculous. And then I laugh.. pretty romantic I know.)

Hop on Trax to get to my corner..

This weeks theme for the corner view is transportation. In Salt Lake City, you usually get around in your own car, a bus, or the Trax. Basically Trax is a two-line light rail system running from downtown Salt Lake City (where I live) to approx 19 miles south to a city called Sandy (where my parents live). Trax comes in very handy for us "down-towners" who don't want to take our cars out and find a place to park. Or in my husband's and my case, we like to long board. So we long board somewhere and take Trax back close to our apartment. This is also how my husband gets to and from his school.

Usually I'm a stickler for only posting one picture for the corner view (don't ask me why.. I love seeing all of your pictures) but today I couldn't resist two. These are my husband's and my feet riding on Trax. I figure our feet are modes of transportation too right? Don't tell the transit authority.. technically it's against the rules to put our feet up.

Luckily I don't have the swine flu, but have been incredibly sick for the last five days and have been doing nothing but sleeping. I am on the mend and should be back to my regularly scheduled blogging tomorrow.

Check, check and check..

My weekend checklist:

[] Stay in bed and recover once again from a stupid cold.

[] Eat soup and lounge in my pj's

[] Complain about being sick

[] Use up an entire box of tissues

Don't be jealous.. I know it seems like my weekend will be incredibly exciting and far superior to anything you have planned. But that's just how it goes sometimes. (It's good to know that when I get sick, my sarcasm stays intact.)

Hope everyone has a happy weekend.. and is sick free!

Sunday Stroll

One of my very favorite things about living downtown is the scenery. Bob and I took a walk on Sunday afternoon all around the city. I love being able to walk to the temple in just minutes. What we thought would be a short leisurely walk turned into an hour and a half all over Salt Lake. Here are a few pictures from our walk around the city.

I fully admit that I have worked on editing these quite a bit. I miss shooting my holga, so I tried to make these photos close to that kind of look. Can't wait to hit San Diego so I can shoot the real thing. I still think these photos turned out pretty cool. I also got a couple shots of the temple. I'm going to wait to show you the rest of the temple shots in case I end up using them for a corner view.

(All photos by me)

Eating pancakes in my corner.

When Jane announced this corner view was going to have the theme of breakfast, my mind quickly went to my favorite breakfast food. Pancakes. I love them. I think I am the only person I know who prefers pancakes over french toast. My mom makes the best. Mmm, crispy edges. But for today's post I give you sourdough pancakes with strawberries sprinkled on top. Pancakes seem to taste just a bit better when enjoyed in Salt Lake City's perfect spring weather.

A much needed weekend.

After such a terrible week last week I decided it was time for a bit of fun this weekend. Bob was swamped with homework so Eric and I went to eat at Finns. I heard good things, the food was good the service was dreadful. Sadly I won't go back because of it. (Yes, it was that bad!) But the upside was we ate outside and got to enjoy some fantastic weather. We tried to go to Ruth's Diner, but apparently they are under construction until May.

Then we went to the movie State Of Play. It was actually pretty good. A tad slow, but there was some really good acting in it. I feel recharged and ready to have a good week. Happy Tuesday!

Bonnie's Baby Shower

Brenda, Jessica and I threw a shower for Bonnie on Saturday..

I designed and printed the invites:

And made the favors:

Jessica provided the yummy dips (which I somehow missed getting a picture of!) and the beautiful flowers to tie in with the theme of the shower (being flowers in case you missed that)

And Brenda brought these gorgeous edible flowers from Edible Arrangements. (not only gorgeous, but super tasty too)

Bonnie's best friend Amelia came in from California and was a huge help as well. She made these awesome Rhodes Bread Cinnamon Rolls. Seriously they tasted homemade. If you are looking for a great frozen cinnamon roll, these are the ones you want. YUM!

This was my plate, I started out with a half cinnamon roll, and let's just say I went back for seconds. So so good!

She got a lot of great presents. And let me just tell you this little girl is going to be well dressed. Seriously some of the cutest clothes!

She had a ton of people come and support her, but if you know Bon, you know everyone loves her.

But the greatest (and most touching) surprise of the day was when Bonnie's mom showed up even though she had just come out of the hospital on Thursday from brain surgery. Bonnie's mom is so amazing, and we were all so glad she could come.

It was a fantastic day and were so happy we could celebrate Bonnie. We love you girl and are so excited to meet the new lil' babe in May!

(Bren, Amelia, Me, Bon, and Jess)

Okay, Okay, I may be brimming with excitement!

You can stop decking those halls now..

Time to admit something. I have a thing.. kind of a pet peeve if you will.

I don't like when people turn their Christmas lights on before Thanksgiving. I think it's important to remember Thanksgiving and I don't want to rush Christmas. But this pet peeve is two fold..

After Christmas, okay I will even give you until New Years Eve.. those lights and decorations need to come down. They just do. I get that some people just can't let Christmas go, but when I am driving around and see Christmas lights on houses in late January it annoys me. Then February rolls around and there are always a few stragglers that were too lazy in January to take them down, so they keep them up and call them Valentines lights. This is so odd to me. But I think I'm pretty tolerant, I only yell from inside my car for them to take down the lights.

Well I know it snowed in Utah a couple days ago, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't mean it's still Christmas time. I believe it's Spring, and I believe it's April. What I don't believe is after running to the grocery store late last night that I came across this house..

I screeched to a stop. Sat there looking, wondering if I was a bit tired and was just seeing things. Took a closer look and they were definitely Christmas lights. What could the reason possibly be? Why are these people celebrating Spring in such an odd way? Is it..

01. a weird joke? (I'm not laughing)
02. They spent a lot of time putting them up and want to enjoy them through the whole year?
03. They lost a bet?
04. I'm taking crazy pills and Christmas is coming twice this year?

Whatever the reason, I don't care. It may be time Bob and I go on a little reconnaissance mission. Operation Easter Bunny takes down Santa is about to commence.

Thursday? No thank you.

My alarm clock went off too early this morning and was blaring "Hungry Eye's" from Dirty Dancing. I then stumbled around getting ready with my eyes half open.. and what do I spot in the mirror? A very long white hair? I don't think I like how this Thursday is shaping up. Excuse me while I crawl back into bed.

Do you ever just have one of those weeks? This is one of those weeks. Wake me when it's over?

My own little corner.

Sweet Jane from Spain Daily lives in Spain.. daily (or was that implied?) Anyway, she had a great idea to have her blog friends post a picture a week of the corner of the world we each live in. She has people posting from all over the world, so it should be a really great way to see the world. Check it out here. I had my hesitations since I don't live anywhere as glamorous as Spain and Jane posts amazing pictures, but I really do love living in Utah.

I live downtown in Salt Lake City. So for my little corner I give you the bakery I pass every day on my way to work. Not only do they have the most darling little treats, but some of the yummiest too. I love my corner and would love to see all of yours as well. So play along if you like.

Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head

What happens when you've stayed up way too late, you're bored, can't sleep, and have potatoes near by?

(sleep deprivation does strange things to me)

I Spy

Saturday Bob went to school to study for a couple hours. So I stayed home to watch Alias Season One (It had been a while since I had seen it, so Eric kindly lent it to me. Because he's my dealer.) When Bob got back we had this conversation..

me: "How was studying?"

bob: "Boring. What did you do?"

me: "I just infiltrated a Russian spy group, you know the usual."

bob: "Alias huh?"

me: "Yeah."

bob: "You know you're not actually a spy right?"

me: "I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you."

bob: (rolling his eyes) Okay Cait, maybe it's time we walk away from the t.v. and go outside.

me: "You mean maybe it's time I do a spinning kick."..... "Yeah, okay maybe I should walk away for a while."

Easter Wii-kend

Had a delightful Easter weekend. Spent time with friends and family. I also tried the Wii Fit for the first time and am convinced I need one. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Happy Monday!

Ting Tings Concert

Last night the husband and I went to the Ting Tings concert.

It didn't start until nine, so we had to gear up for it.

A band called Hot Tub was the opening act. Yeah, they were mainly just weird and I'm pretty sure they were on some major drugs.

Then it was the Ting Tings. They were awesome! I love to dance at concerts and this music was perfect for it. Click here to get a sample of what they sing.

They both were really talented and could play tons of instruments. She even played the cowbell. (You can never have too much cowbell :)

They are both really rad. Bob and I had a blast.

By the end we were exhausted and as you can see pretty sweaty.

Yeah we felt pretty hip going to a concert and dancing late on a week night. Just call us rock stars. Yeah right. This morning I sure didn't feel like one :)
